Andy Rose DipFA

I live in Brentwood, Essex with my family, and I’ve spent over 30 years working in financial services.

I started in the City in 1993 as a “Blue Button”, a fresh-faced 18-year-old trainee stock market dealer learning the trade. I spent my entire career at one of the UK’s leading independent market makers, where I was known in the market as “Rosey”. I have traded smaller companies and bonds, and helped set up the UK’s first retail ETF desk. But the international desk, where I spent the best part of half my career, was where I did my most rewarding work. When I started, global shares were a niche. Today they sit at the heart of most portfolios, and I was on the desk as that happened.

Every day I was pricing and trading for the stockbrokers, wealth managers and investment platforms buying and selling on their clients’ behalf. I traded through the dot-com crash, the financial crisis, Brexit, Covid, the rise of the tech giants and the AI bull run, and saw first hand how people react when the headlines turn.

For most of my career, I was on the other side of the trade from investors like you. Now I’m on your side. Back then it was thousands of trades a day, most done and dusted in seconds, and the best price won. Advice is different. Cost still matters, but a good plan is built on trust, then reviewed and looked after over years of working together.

Most weekends I’m on a touchline practising sports photography, taking photos of my son and his teammates to share with their families. It’s a small thing, but a way of giving back. It’s also where the name and logo come from: a camera’s aperture, bringing what matters into focus. After all those years in the City, I want to serve my own community and beyond.

The rest of the time I’m out with the dog. That’s my picture of a good retirement: a long walk with a coffee stop, not squeezed in before and after work. Everyone’s picture is different, and I’m here to help you focus on making yours happen.

Backed by New Leaf

I work with New Leaf Distribution, a privately owned, independent network that has supported financial advisers across the UK for more than 25 years.

You deal with me, and behind me sits a much larger team. New Leaf’s paraplanners help research your plan and prepare your report. Their compliance team checks every recommendation before it reaches you. As my principal firm, New Leaf is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA number 460421) and takes full responsibility for the advice I give. It also holds professional indemnity insurance of up to £2m per claim.

Being part of a large network also counts when it comes to cost. New Leaf’s size means some providers offer it better terms than a single adviser could get alone, and those savings are passed on to you.

So you get one adviser who knows you well, with the checks and backing of a national firm.
